Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! I hope you are well, in good form, and treating yourself with tenderness. Today's Wednesday Reality Check is about love, dance and yoga!
Read time: 4 minutes
In ode to the Goddess of Love, Venus, I decided to give free belly dancing classes every Friday at the park, Jardin Public.
My first class, starting at 11h, I only had one student. My second class, at 6:30, again, I had only one student, and he was a handsome, but very talkative French man. We just did regular yoga together, I'm adaptable. Even though I only had one student for each class, I felt Venus herself and all the Gods, for that matter, smiling down upon me.
I love belly dancing and yoga - so I created BellyYoga - a fusion of both arts and decided to give free* classes in the park because why not!? I feel it is another way of living my best life!
The classes are designed to bring out the Goddess within you, to enhance and tone your feminine curves, to unleash your feminine sensuality and to create within you an aura of exotic grace. While there are many folkloric tales of where and how this beautiful and ancient dance came to be and how it has evolved, regardless of these origins, belly dance has left its mark on the earth and within every woman's veins.
Belly dance allows a woman to move organically and, in essence, truthfully.
The natural movements of the dance not only bring sheer joy, but also touch the soul of creation. Certain ancient texts even claim that our universe was created out of dance, and so it is through dance that we are likewise connected to the universe.Belly dance and Yoga transcends us; it allows our hands to touch the heavens, while our feet keep us connected to the Earth.
This may sound a little new agey (my sweet friend, Janine M says woo-woo) or that I have taken a sip from a goblet of magic wine, but I don't care! When we dance, or perform any type of exercise for that matter, we find that certain something that is deep within us and everything else becomes irrelevant.
Classes will continue until the end of August, and if I find a location and enough students who are interested in continuing classes, then maybe through out the year, but ehhh, I feel belly dance and yoga can be done everyday from the comfort of your own home. A good idea would be to check out YouTube for yoga and belly dance videos.
Some quick background information about me: I am a performer and instructor of Middle Eastern dance, also known as Raks Sharqui. I have been dancing since I've come out of the womb and have since studied with many different instructors from around the world. My passion has always been for Middle Eastern dance, I don't know why, and I have never strayed far from that desire. I consider myself a "Gypsy of Dance", fusing different styles of the art to create an organic and original form.
I have instructed in Las Vegas, NV and now in Bordeaux, France!
Before I leave you, I want you to know that you are loved. So, shake that ass, show me what you working with! Have a fantabulous (fantastic and fabulous) day, make good choices, treat yourselves and others with tenderness and kindness and remember life is too short to eat bad food!

PS. I shall be going offline for a few weeks, but don't despair party-people, Big Mama will be back before September!
*Even though classes are free, I graciously accept monetary donations, a bottle of wine, a hug or le bisous as payment for my time. In fact, I'm strict about my students choosing two of the four.
Bonjour et Bienvenue!
Thank you for stopping by for a spell!
I am a 40-something year old American woman. Born in Texas, raised in Las Vegas!
Frenchified for Life
is a fabulous little lifestyle blog about truly embracing French life!
My intent is to simply inspire you to create something unique and beautiful in your everyday life. The French have this wonderful and annoying habit of seeing the world through rose colored glasses, might as well learn something from them!
That said, I lift my glass to you!
By the way, I mention the name Cachou (or The Cash) a lot, I'm referring to her...
