(Re)Use It or Lose It!If there was a fire, this would be one of the first things I'd grab!
Like most women, I own a lot of stuff.
I didn't realize how much I accumulated until I had to downsize from an American-sized apartment to a French one!
When I made the decision to move overseas, I also made the decision pack only 14 boxes to take with me. At the time, it was a very difficult decision to make, and in hindsight, I packed too much.
However, truly think about that for a moment.
Imagine having to pack, say 10-20-30-40 years worth of your most personal belongings, from gifts, appliances, clothes to other household stuff.
What would you take? What would you leave?
In the end, I mostly packed clothes, shoes, my accessories, a stack of books I thought I couldn't live without, and crafting supplies -- from my sewing machine to my calligraphy pens.
Most of my stuff I gave away, others my family is storing it, some I sold, the rest I dumped.
Do I miss it? Only the four original pieces of artwork I left behind.
That was nearly three years ago and I cannot believe how much I have changed, (yet stayed the same) in that short of time. Most of my clothes and shoes I packed are gone, recycled at the Bizarre Bazaar (check under Creative Projects) and donated to charity, my books I thought I couldn't live without were read, then donated.
That brings me to my crafts... like a good little witch, I am crafty and when crafting, I abide by this simple rule: use it or lose it! Well, come to think of it, that little motto can be utilized for a number of things, non?
On Tuesday afternoons, I meet with my other witches for a crafting session. During that time, we chat, drink, nosh, and work on our little projects. I normally work on fixing some of my favorite pieces of broken jewerly or take odds and ends and recycle them or give them away.
I guess my motto should really be: use it, fix it, reuse it or give it away!
Check out some of my creations and recreations!
Pearls and Cherries of Witchy Wisdom
This is one of my favorite pieces. I created it during a time of turbulence. I was having issues adjusting to my new French life, then on this particually bad day, while walking down my apartment's alleyway to the side gate,
I noticed something that I NEVER noticed before -- a cherry tree in full bloom.
First, cherry trees only blossom in June and it seemed to appear out of nowhere. It was the most fantastical, beautiful sight, it was surreal. The cherries were so bright and red, I was in complete awe!
It was that same day that I was meeting the witches for a crafting workshop. The theme was something along the lines of creating something that grounds you.
An 'everything is going to be alright' piece, if you will. I created this sweet little charm bracelet.
The three charms with the pearls attached to them represent my witches, the pearls represent their pearls of wisdom. The red beads represents the cherry tree to remind me that life is not only full of surprises, but to remain in awe of everything!
By the way, this is a growing piece, I need to add another charm to represent another witch!
I hope my recycled pieces of jewerly and crafts have given you some ideas.
According to my motto, I SHOULDN'T need to purchase MORE ACCESSORIES! But, I will!
(Come to think of it, I haven't purchased any new girlie goods since Christmas.)
Take care of yourselves and until next time.... Bisous!
Bonjour et Bienvenue!
Thank you for stopping by for a spell!

Frenchified for Life
is a fabulous little lifestyle blog about truly embracing French life!
My intent is to simply inspire you to create something unique and beautiful in your everyday life. The French have this wonderful and annoying habit of seeing the world through rose colored glasses, might as well learn something from them!
That said, I lift my glass to you!
By the way, I mention the name Cachou (or The Cash) a lot, I'm referring to her...
