Love at first sight
Hey ya'll and Yeehaw!
Greetings from this side of the planet!
Big Mama hasn't set foot on American soil for more than four years. There are a number of reasons for this, the main one is the 24 hour transatlantic flight - complete with layovers, wait times, and overall security BS, still, it is (barely) worth it, but a girls gotta complain.
I remember my first airline flight, I must have been eight or nine years old. I was travelling with my aunt, going to Mexico for some reason, and I became so ecstatic when we flew through a cloud.
WE WERE FLYING THROUGH A CLOUD!
How cool is that?! My aunt tried to quell my excitement, she didn't want to bother the other passengers, but can't a kid be a kid?! Sheesh! And to this day, when I fly through a cloud, it still fills me with happiness!
I am in The States for three weeks. I am currently in Texas, after spending a week in Las Vegas, visiting good friends and enjoying my time with them.
I love my friends. My Vegas friends, much like the city itself, has seen and experienced some things! We discussed the normalcy of the craziness, and it is these stories that have shaped us into the human beings we are today. Las Vegas is like no other city - it is the most fake, most real city on the planet. And I wouldn't have it any other way!!
One day, I visited my sweet friend, Julie M, who is an animal lover and overall lover of life.
She is so giving and surrounds herself with horses, chickens, dogs, birds... in other words, she is Snow White. The photo above is Julie's coq, he is a funny fucker and such a lover!!
Check out the I HATE FRANCE section of this blog to read about the life of chickens and how it relates to French culture. Julie spoiled me, just as much as she spoils her fur babies, and like my fellow mammals, I loved every little bit of it!!!!
In fact, all of my Vegas friends spoiled me -- they treated me like Cleopatra, and who doesn't like to be treated like royalty?!! And I WAS SPOILED! But, it is ALWAYS reciprocated.
I LOVE spoiling my friends, but my Las Vegas peeps take it to the next level!
I am so grateful and lucky to be loved, by so many and so much, it makes my heart swell like the ocean.
Also, just wanted to let you know that modern technology has been complicated for me, therefore photos are scare for the time being, but once I'm back on French soil, you will meet my beautiful friends, and fall in love with them too! It's kinda hard not to!
Big Texas kiss, my darlin's! Eat well, spoil yourself and spoil your friends, because as I mentioned above, who doesn't like to be spoiled!?

Vendredi is derived from Venus, the Goddess of Love
Hello my lovelies!
When I first started this blog, ohh, some six years ago, I would post a Friday Love list, and since I haven't done one in a while, I decided why not?!... on a Tuesday! So, here we are!
Like many of my fellow humans, I am multi-faceted and have a wide array of interests and likes.
Today I am going to share with you some of my inner thoughts and feelings through the help of funny, sweet, and magical memes. Happiness is contagious, and I like the idea of being a Typhoid Merry. And perhaps you shall discover something new too, who knows?
So without further ado...
Tuesday's Friday's Love List!
Self aware cat.
My sweet friend, Kim M, has two cats - Toby and Zee - this cat is not either of them, but Ms M describes their personalities and their cat-teristics in loving detail.
We love our pets, and since they provide us with so much care and affection, it is difficult not to be an advocate for our furry friends.
Current American legislation is allowing the killing of hibernating bears, also wolves, and lest not forget about the lead poisoning of the bald eagle, you know, the symbol of America. (Look it up, I encourage you!)
I love this photo because perhaps s/he is asking themselves, "what am I doing with my nine lives?"
To take a long hard look in the mirror at ourselves, and especially under florescent lighting, is a necessity, to change the world.
I believe the world has changed for the better because of ridiculous people, they are the dreamers, the well wishers, such as Joan of Arc, Jesus or Martin Luther King Jr. or Abraham Lincoln, or John Lennon.... they were also murdered, burned or lynched by other ridiculous people, hence, what's the point of trying?! That, I can understand.
As Yoda said: Do or Do not, there is no try.
Use your ancestors and your fellow humans as an example and inspiration to be a positive force of nature for yourself and for others. Be bold and stand up and speak up for your fellow humans, and other LIVING beings. Do not give voice to inanimate objects, things, businesses that deteriorate and destroy people.
If this snippet doesn't intrigue you, then we have nothing more to talk about.
Many of my friends are Whovians, but at the time, I didn't understand the fascination, until I did.
It took me a few episodes in of the new season starring Christopher Eccleston, who is MY Doctor, to fall head over heels in love with this series. The show is so campy, cheesy, magical, and wonderful, simply wonderful!
It gets you right in the feels -- and it's a mixture of RUN, FANTASTIC, ALLONS-Y, and GERONIMOOOO!
I have been rewatching old episodes as of late, yes, my sweeties, I am a Whovian.
Doctor Who is cheaper than therapy and so much more entertaining!
This hippo is cooler than you.
If you have taken a little Frenchified tour of my website, you would have read in the About section: 50 facts about moi.
One of them is my love and admiration of hippos.
Look at this sweet face. Those eyes, those ears, those rosy cheeks and the expression of not having a care in the world.
This hippo is adorable... just chillaxing in Mother Nature's jacuzzi.
But did you know that despite this sweet face, hippos are deadly, territorial, and aggressive?
Goes to show, never judge a book by it's cover.
It's a Scream!
The old CBBC TV series, Young Dracula has it all: family drama, style, comedy, adventure, teenage angst.
Meet Count Dracula's family. They put the fun in dysfunction, wrapped up perfectly with wit, panache, and cheekiness!
I found this show on a fluke, but boy I'm glad I did.
I watched it like a documentary reality show, it's sweet genius.
If you get a change, check it out. Hopefully you'll fall in love with the absurdity of it all.
Along those lines, I politely demand the immediate viewing of the mockumentary, What We Do In The Shadows. Like, tout de suite, cheries!
I found this online, therefore I am unsure of it's validity, however since I'm unable to obtain an interview with Sly himself to confirm, nonetheless, I would like to believe it is true.
I love Rocky, some of the movies were better than others, but the story of Rocky, the underdog doing the impossible, what's not to love?
"He thinks it's a fight, not a show." - Apollo Creed's trainer, Rocky.
It's a beautiful, hard, and a modern day heroic story of overcoming all obstacles.
And, to this day, when I climb up stairs, I hear the Rocky theme song then recreate the famous scene at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
You know what I'm talking about!!
If not, please, I insist you watch the movie.
Everything we do is magic.
Ever hear the term, The Magic Touch?
How we project ourselves to the world is our personal magic, our magic touch so to speak.
So, what does your magic say about you?
Austin Powers had his Mojo. Sean Connery projects a suave magic. Both got the ladies! Oh la la, lucky boys!
Imagine you can wave a magic wand and poof all your problems disappear, but since we live in the real world.. well, who's to say, you can't have both?
You are the magic wand. So swish and flick your problems away, and look good while doing it, because honey child...
Everythings better with a little magic!!
My Preferred Method of Transportation
Can you imagine this being a possibility as mode of transportation?
Sounds pretty COOLSOME! As in cool and awesome!!
What would yours be? Riding a bird? Riding a cheetah? A Hippo?!
In Doctor Who, Winston Churchill rode his personal mammoth to Parliament. (The Wedding of River Song)
Having an active imagination means you shall ever be bored.
There are worlds to ponder, visit, and explore, boundless are the possibilities.
This is perhaps one of the reasons why such classics as Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book, Tarzan, Mary Poppins, and Beauty and The Beast captivate our hearts for generations over.
We all want to believe in magic and goodness, but understand that it is deeper than belief, it simply is what it is.
Everything living upon our Earth is a product of magic and goodness, do not let the corruption of the greedy have you believe otherwise. Anyway, be COOLSOME.
Having an active imagination is vital - you can explore the deepest of caves or swing like Tarzan across a starry sky!
But ---- going down the internet rabbit hole, well, you read and see some stuff you can't imagine is possible, especially in this day and age, but voila, there it is.
Need examples? Ok -- The holocaust, starvation, homelessness, people setting themselves on fire or committing suicide because they feel they FAIL for not being able to find a job or make money to live in 'civilized' society. Snow White syndrome.
When we were children, we imagined a world of flying cars, jet packs, teleportation, of harmony and safety... well, I speak for myself, and THIS is what I wake up to every day? THIS REALITY? Where there is no harmony or security or teleportation? What the shit are these SMART engineers and scientists supposedly doing?!! NO TELEPORTATION is UNACCEPTABLE! But first things first -- Starvation is unacceptable. Ignorance is unacceptable. Homelessness is unacceptable. Being apathetic is unacceptable.
It's no wonder my fellow humans are just waiting to die - pfft - me included - I don't want to be used/abused/enslaved, even though I am, by this shit system. But my internal system, my life essence, won't allow me to do anything foolish or hurt myself, even though there was a time in my life where I just wanted to slip away and never be heard from again. I begged for my life to stop, I have begged, prayed, pleaded to be 'normal', but The Gods have different ideas and more work for me to do, (ummm, thanks?!) so -- here I am, it's just me, mate, doing what brings me pleasure, which puts me in touch with who I truly am, which is unconditional love, just LIKE YOU!
I cannot fix every world problem, but I can fix how I react and view our world problems, by being proactive. I can't save everyone, I ain't Jesus, but I can be like Jesus and turn the tables on the powerful (and hopefully without being lynched or raped) and influence a new way of thinking. After all, the easiest and hardest thing to do is to change your mind.
I think this is why I lose myself in my thoughts, or in books and TV, where I am entertained and transported to someplace safe and better, rather than the reality of reality.
I imagine a better place, a safe place where I am free, truly free, and one where I can fly.
Give me one firm spot on which to stand and I shall move the Earth. - Archimedes
The sweet husband and I were recently discussing insanity. Honestly, is there is difference between insanity and genius? I feel one must have one foot firmly planted in both to be a sane human!
After all, Leonardo Da Vinci dug up dead bodies to study anatomy. Madame Curie exposed herself to radiation, and now we have Xrays! The Wright Bros = airplanes! Handheld devices with access to all information in the world, it's the stuff in comic books, but no, it is our reality!
But, with all of these new gadgets -- NOTHING replaces an active brain! One must balance ingenuity with insanity, and hopefully without hurting yourselves or others in the process, which can be hard to do, I'm not denying that, but we do it everyday, so there's that!
Need another example? Just think of driving your car -- YOU KNOW HOW TO DRIVE, a CAR!
Genius + insanity = magic!
They say at the end of every rainbow, there is a pot of gold. Perhaps the pot of gold is really a DOG!?
Socrates said, and I'm paraphrasing here, to be a better human being is to have the qualities of a loyal dog, according to Plato's Republic. Socrates, predates Jesus obviously, but both had the same messages of LOVE and SELF ACCEPTANCE and both were murdered by the State for having these outrageous beliefs.
I only need to look to my sweet little puppy dog, Cashew, to show me the TRUE WAY. She is a 10 pound Guru of unconditional love, loyalty, kindness, patience, ferocity, and sweetness. I am hers and she is mine.
She doesn't judge me, doesn't care how much of a mess of a human I seem to be, she simply accepts and loves me, just as I am, no conditions, no limitations, no judgements. How can something as insignificant as a dog impact how I live my life? She just does, and both of us are over the moon grateful for having been born.
By the way -- DOG is GOD spelled backwards.
Growing up, my mother use to berate me and belittle me with the following: "I wish you were never born."
Not only was I told this on numerous occasions, but I also felt the exact same way!!!! I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. I have always felt a bit out of place, because I couldn't comprehend the authoritarian stupidities of our world. I still can't. Perhaps some will say, "GROW UP!" to which I respond, "FUCK YOU!" Which proves their point, and makes mine. Others might empathize and say: "I'm glad you were born." But, honestly, I do wish I was never born, this world is too cruel and evil for my human being, my sweet "snowflake" soul!
I am saddened to see my fellow human beings turned into profits. I am saddened to see parents having to enslave and stretch themselves thin to provide a 'normal' human experience for their children. (I understand my mother now)
I am saddened to see fat children playing video games, but hey anything to shut them up!
I am saddened to know mofos like Jabba the Hutt Trump, who doesn't pay taxes and represents THE problem with humanity is now in charge of MY country - the land of enslaved and home of the unbrave.
My mother was right: I wish I never was born.
Despite all my faults, complaints, and awesomeness, to be alive is a sweet torture.
My friend's husband, Sean R, says we must eat a spoonful of shit everyday. Personally, I like the Mary Poppins version, a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, but both are basically saying the same thing: suck it up and shut up. Which is some good ole Texan advice right there, but so is "Damn, son... that ain't right." Hence the sweet torture.
So, enjoy the sweetness to endure the torture. Fare thee well, my friends. Be and Do well. Eat well. Think well. Drink well. Sleep well. Listen to Frank Sinatra. Do Be Do Be Do. (see what I did there?)
And by doing those simple tasks, you shall discover and experience a new way, a path to self happiness, acceptance and love and the willingness to provide those same outlets with others by sharing your light, no matter how dark it will become.
But then again, what do I know?
Light and Love,
Do not go gentle into that good night... Dylan Thomas
Ladies and Gentlemen, with the upmost respect, adoration and admiration... Mr Frank fucking Sinatra.
Thanks for stopping by for a spell, today's post is about What's Happening in France, April edition!
Read Time: 7 minutes
The last few posts I have written, were filled with French fun facts, (such as: Why French people are called frogs? The answer lies in March's post.) and a list of what's going on -- on this side of the planet, and around the planet, complete with some history, thoughts and ah bon(s)?!
Ah bon, means oh, yeah?! or oh, really?

I am a 40-something year old American woman. Born in Texas, raised in Las Vegas!
Frenchified for Life
is a fabulous little lifestyle blog about truly embracing French life!
My intent is to simply inspire you to create something unique and beautiful in your everyday life. The French have this wonderful and annoying habit of seeing the world through rose colored glasses, might as well learn something from them!
That said, I lift my glass to you!
By the way, I mention the name Cachou (or The Cash) a lot, I'm referring to her...
